By May 2024, the number of hydrogen retail stations will reach 8 with the latest opening that the company Cepsa, in collaboration with Exolum, has carried out in the northern area of Madrid.
Already in 2008, in the universal exhibition of Zaragoza a hydrogen bus was launched and operated during the event. Since then, the Government of Aragon has been a major player in promoting the opening of hydrogen refueling points, so that still 25% of the hydrogen refueling stations opened in Spain are located in Aragon, to which should be added the installation in Barbastro, for the company Viñas del Vero, which also has a hydroline station for the supply of their own vehicles

Currently, hydrogen stations are located mainly in urban areas and some major highways, with an initial focus on regions with the highest demand for hydrogen vehicles, such as Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia.
A network that will be expanded soon with the projects of Repsol and Molgas to open another 8 points of sale mainly in the capital of Spain. Likewise the number of companies interested in hydrogen refueling points continues to increase following the example of FM Logistics which has one at its Illescas facility in Toledo. The network of hydrogen stations in Spain is expected to expand significantly in the coming years, as demand for hydrogen vehicles increases and the supporting infrastructure is strengthened. This includes plans to install hydrogen refuelling points in more cities and rural areas.
